How Can Persistent Cough And Throat Irritation Be Treated?

I have a persistent cough when I talk and am sitting. I am constantly clearing my throat (driving family crazy). This has been going on for a year. Today my dentist said I have an infection and it appears I have bone deterioration. What type of doctor should I see for the symptoms in addition to the dental specialist?

As per your query, you have symptoms of persistent cough and throat irritation which seems to be due to upper respiratory tract infection.

Need not to worry. For now, sip on warm water and avoid cold carbonated beverages. Take over-the-counter cough suppressants, or expectorants, which give relief from coughing.

I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist/Pulmonologist once and get it examined. Doctor may order certain test like blood test, throat swab test and chest x-ray to confirm the diagnosis and rule out other conditions.

Doctor may prescribe proper course of antibiotics along with anti-inflammatory medicines.
