How Can Persistent Runny Nose Problems Be Treated Apart From Taking Antihistamines?

I have a runny nose all the time - for many years. I have a nasal spray prescribed by a doctor which worked for a while but no more. I try something for allergies with ingredient called maleate. This would work, I think, but I hesitate to take a whole pill - I take just 1/2. I also find some relief from those alka seltzer fizzy things. Antihistmines make me so drowsy its kinda scary. So - I still have a runny nose. Any suggestions?
