Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have developed pin point red spots (what I believe to be petechiae) on my forearms and to a lesser degree on my upper arms and chest. I first noticed then while on maternity leave after the birth of my first child. I attributed them to holding my baby when nursing but noticed that they have increased in number. I see a rheumatologist for Raynaud s (I haven t had issues since I got pregnant) and my ANA was 1:40 and then 1:80 a week apart in 2/2016 but haven t been repeated. My platelets are in the high 100s and within the normal range at our hospital. I ve had joint pains since about 3 months postpartum, mostly in my hands off and on, with some back pain (I attribute this to poor posture while nursing) and ankle pain. My hematologist doesn t think it s heme related, my PCP brushed me off and my rheumatologist referred to them as red spots but didn t feel it was necessary to evaluate them further. A dermatologist looked past them to some cherry hemangiomas but I don t think he saw what I was pointing to. What could be the cause? Autoimmune?

How Can Petechiae On The Forearms Be Treated?
Hello, * As per my clinical experience, the issue may be related to vasculitis or others in concern with the immune response of the body to various factors. * Primary care with aloevera gel application and supportive medications after systemic evaluation would be obtained. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
