Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I recently came to know that I have piles. I m not comfortable sharing it with family. I consulted with a doc and he suggested an operation of it but I later studied more about it and found that piles can happen again after operating them once. Is that true?? Can they come again even after doing an operation once? If yes then what precaution do I need to take to have less chances of having it again ever??
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. This is true but relaps rate depends on type of surgery performed. In case of huge surgery where all hemorrhoids are excised, the recurence rate is minimal and you can be calm about this. In case of laser surgery, ligatures or ultrasound surgery, such rates are higher but still small. YOu should just have proper diet and avoid straining during defecations. Good diet means lot of fibres, boiled food and vegetables.Generally, In most cases it doesnt recur for the lifetime. I hope I have answered your query. Wish you good health.
