Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I found out that I have pilonidal sinus, It first started with one hole and now there s two holes, both are very small in size barely noticeable. what is the best treatment for my case and do I need surgery? Also my doctor prescribed me Fucidin, does it help healing the wounds? And is there a better medicine for the Pilonidal Sinus?
Hi thank you fot querry. pilonidal sinus is treated both medically and surgically. in medical treatment 1st shave the effected area and pluck the visible embedded hairs in the sinuses laser treatment also done but not too much effective. phenol injection is helpful after incision and draininge the abscess. fibrin glue after curetting the sinus tract. surgically its removed either its acute, chronic or recurrent with removal of whole tract and skin flapping. hope the answer will help you for assessing your condition and to make proper decision.
