How Can Pneumonia Along With Breathing Difficulty Be Treated?

I have had pneumonia for over a month but I wasn t notified that I had it after my x-ray. I went to the emergency room three weeks later and was then put on antibiotics. I took the last one last Friday and I m not feeling any better. If I m up doing anything for more than about 5 minutes I can barely breathe and start feeling really bad and that lasts for hours. My doctor have me a Dulera inhaler to see if that would help. I haven t used it yet. What would your suggestion be for me to do at this point. I have a new doctor so haven t had time to form a trusting relationship with her.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hello,
i can understand your concern.
pneumonia is a lower respiratory tract infection requiring antibiotics.
you havent mentioned your age and i would also like to know if you have any conditions like diabetes, hypertension, asthma etc. these make it more difficult for the pneumonia to be treated. a culture and sensitivity following a bronchoscopy is advisable as there is no improvement in your case. this will help us in pinpointing the antibiotic that is suitable for you. if there is a fluid build up in pleura it is advisable to get a pleural tap and the fluid sent for examination.
you need to consult a pulmonologist for all the above mentioned tests.
hope i have answered your query.
wish you a speedy recovery
