Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a colonoscopy on 4/27/2017. Dr. found and removed three polyps. Dr called me that biopsy was back , one polyp showed very early signs of cancer. I am to see a gastroenterologist for treatment. It is a large polyp1.5 cm in the cecum near the appendix it was saline lifted and removed piecemeal with cold snare and forceps. How serious is this and what is the treatment etc.
Polyps removal include various methods ranging in laparoscopy (piece meal, En masse ligation, cauterization, etc), robotic surgery (with precision up to micro millimeters), open surgery (pedicle ligation, wedge resection, resection anastomosis in case of suspected bowel involvement on frozen section specimen). Severity and type of further treatment depend solely upon the histology report of the biopsy specimen.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Purva Patel
