How Can Poor Appetite In An Infant Be Treated?

good morning doctor My son is 18 months old. He doesn t eat properly n he is only 8kgs. We tried some iron supplements but in vain. The only fruit he likes is banana. He accepts curd rice with banana but I read somewhere that bananas produce mucus. I am totally confused about what to feed him to make him healthy. I tried different foods alternatively but he is averted to the idea of eating itself I guess. Pls. advise. Regards Sowjanya, Hyderabad.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* As per my clinical experience, it is a very common presentation for parents with children of this age to face this issue.
* In our clinic, I recommend a thorough comprehensive approach to handle the kid in scientific manner, rather than prescribing multi vitamins and just getting rid off the issue.
* This involves a systemic parental guide to make parents trained to use different regimens to provide balanced nutritious ailments to kid along with counselling to manage to do the same with kid in a friendly approach.

Hope I have answered your query.
