How Can Postnasal Drip In An Infant Be Treated?

Hi, please may I have some advice: My 2 month old has a phlegmy cough, and I m worried about her breathing. Her breathing rate is still 40 breaths/min, and she does not have a temperature, however, her breathing pattern is inconsistent, and she exhibits intermittent abdominal pumping action when she breathes. She is eating and sleeping fine, and we are giving her Iliadin infant nasal drops. We have a nebuliser and duolin respules at home. Is it safe and necessary for us to use this on her? ps. She had something similar 3 weeks ago. We took her to the GP who confirmed it was in her throat as a result of post-nasal drip, and was not in the chest. Thank you in advance.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this -

1)Do a detailed clinical examination by your treating Doctor[Ped] and to confirm do [CBC with differential, Chest X-ray]

2)Discuss with your treating Doctor about [glucocorticoid]for airway inflammations.

Do follow few lifestyle modifications like this -

1)Try to wash your hands. Thorough and frequent hand-washing is an effective way to prevent many common infections. Or use alcohol-based hand sanitizers if soap and water aren't readily available.

2)Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough. To avoid contaminating your hands, cough or sneeze into a tissue

3)Try to avoid crowds with child.

Hope that helps
