Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How can I know if there s a possibility I am pregnant? It s been almost 3 months since I ve last had intercourse, and I took a pregnancy test about a month ago that came back negative, but my body is still feeling weird. I ve noticed heartburn, discomfort in my stomach and what feels like it could be gas moving, but I fear it may be a fetus. Thanks.
Heart burn, gas etc are not specific signs of pregnancy. The important sign is no menstruation or we can say period not comes when pregnancy occurs. For ruling out pregnancy you can investigate with USG abdomen and HCG estimation in urine or blood. If HCG is not raised or urine card is negative, then pregnancy is very unlikely. For heart burn and gas over the counter Digene like antacid syrup or Pantoprazole tablet can be prescribed. Consult gynecologist for examination and further work up accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Parth Goswami
