How Can Pregnancy Be Prevented After Unprotected Intercourse?

I had sex for the first time, and it was unprotected. It just happened in the heat of the moment. The guy I had sex with, pulled out before he came, but I am still so worried about being pregnant. My period is suppose to start anytime now. Since it was my first time having sex, I bled. But I am still bleeding. I don t know if I m on period right now, or if I am still bleeding from having sex. I don t have health insurance so I don t know what to do. Also I was considering taking the Plan B pill. But I needed to speak to someone first.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
I understand your concern
Post intercourse bleeding could be due to hymen rupture, vaginal infection and mechanical injury.
Vaginal examination and swab test will help to diagnose the cause of bleeding.
If you had sex in the unsafe period of the cycle (10th to 20th day of cycle) then you have to take Plan B pill with in 72 hours of sex.
It is effective only when taken with in 72 hours of the sex.
If 72 hours has been crossed then wait for the period to come.
If your period will be delayed by more than 12 days then go for urine pregnancy and or blood HCG to confirm the pregnancy.
If you will be pregnant then still you can terminate the pregnancy by abortion pill under the advise of gynecologist.
Take warm sitz bath with added betadine
Avoid stress, take healthy diet, maintain proper pelvic hygiene and do regular exercise
Hope this may help you
Best regards
