Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Work in a juvenile facility. Young boy, about 12 years old, has pressure build up in his right ear. The other ear seems to be fine. Our facility nurse told me to give him a hot pack to put near the ear, and I also gave him 500 mg. of acetaminophen (Tylenol). This was 1/2 hour ago. He now says his ear is throbbing. Anything else I can do for him?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
You should go to the nearest medical center for clinical assessment, as the symptoms are suggestive of middle ear infection. So an ENT doctor will examine the patient, and in case of infection, he will prescribe analgesics and antibiotics.
I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Take care.
