Hello and welcome to Health Care Magic, I have gone through your query and I can understand the your concern and agony due to the pain.
The Jaw pain can can have different causes;
TMJ involvement
Infection
Wisdom Tooth Involvement (
Pericoronitis)
Nerve Involvement
Ear Infections, etc
However, I can say from your history that this pain was instant and also there is no previous history of such pain.
If that is the case, the most appropriate diagnosis can be Pericoronitis or Wisdom tooth Involvement (provided you have your Wisdom Tooth partially erupted) as the Pain in Pericoronitis is shooting type and very acute.
I would advise you to have a visit to the nearest
dentist and get yourself examined in order to rule out any other cause. If you were my patient I would have prescribed you
Metronidazole 400mg TiD (if you were not allergic to it) and
Hydrogen Peroxide 4% Mouth Washes. For Pain you can take the med your doctoe has prescribed you.
Moreover maintain a good
oral hygiene which is important to decrease the recurring of Pericoronitis.
Hope this Answer was Satisfying.
Thanks and Regards
Dr Himayun Mir
