Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have two pririgo nodularis modules, and my dermatologist keeps freezing them which I have found in the past to be worthless, I just saw a video on you tube where the dermatologist actually used a scapel to cut into them removing the milas underneath which when I was younger always worked but today I cannot find a dermatologist who does that- what can I do?
Prurigo nodularis (PN) is a skin disease characterized by pruritic (itchy) nodules which usually appear on the arms or legs. Persons often present with multiple excoriated lesions caused by scratching. This disorder is very hard to treat.
Current therapies include use of strong steroids, vitamins, cryosurgery, azathioprine, thalidomide and UVB light. If there is presence of infection, antibiotics have proven effective. But sometimes may cause more bad than good with its use. Kindly consult Dermatologist for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S,
General & Family Physician
