Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Recurrent UTI And Blood In Urine Be Treated?
I have had UTI s for years. I am 79 years old and in excellent health and very active. I see a urologist each time an infection comes back. Right now I m taking 250MG generic Keflex every other day (after taking one per day for a month). My symptoms usually are foul smelling, cloudy urine. No pain but terrific urge to urinate. I had a hysterectomy when I was 32 years old. I ve taken various RX meds over the years, including using sesame seed oil for dryness. I drink water throughout the day, am exceptionally clean. I ve had tests and am desperate to find a solution. Cranberry caps and juice seem to do no good. I ve had microscopic blood in my urine for 20 years and saw a nephrologist regularity until he said I would probably live to an older age w/o knowing the cause. I m desperate seeking a solution. I do have an appointment with my urologist in a month. Any suggestions?
Please get tested for diabetes, which can cause resistant and recurring UTI. So please get a blood test for blood glucose levels both fasting and postprandial.
