How Can Recurrent UTI During Pregnancy Be Treated?
I am 15 weeks pregnant and have reoccuring UTI s and recently was found that the organism is enterobacter aerogenes. I just recently took microbid anitbiotic and now the doctor wants to prescribe me with either Cipro or a Rocephin shot. I have read that this bacteria is very resistant to antibiotics. I am concerned for both my unborn baby and my health. Can you advise whether I should take either antibiotic or pursue another form of treatment?

Hello,
The best thing is, go for culture and sensitivity of urine sample. It will reveal not only the organism but also the antibody to which the organism is sensitive.
Resistant to ciprofloxacin is noted in few areas of world. Check for sensitivity of antibiotics and use it.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Siddartha
