Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, 96 year old male, recurrent UTIs, with MRSA. Urologist took him off Cipro (which his GP had just put him on few days ago after bad rash side effect from Bactrim), and put him on macrobid. Does macrobid treat MRSA successfully?? Thanks, Scott R.
Macrobid is composed of 'Nitrofurantoin', which is an antibacterial agent specific for urinary tract infections. It is used to treat the infections caused by drug-resistant bacteria.
Hence, what medication has been prescribed is appropriate. Kindly the medication as prescribed and do the necessary follow-up as advised.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S,
General & Family Physician
