How Can Recurrent Genital Herpes Be Treated?

I have been using Valacyclovir for re-occurring genital herpes. I ve went for long periods without taking ANY Medication when I haven t been sexually active, 5 to 8 years at a time. I am about to began a relationship and I m breaking out again. two months ago I started breaking out again and my doctor had me take it for 3 weeks, it seemed at times like it might have been making it Worse. then it cleared up, so I went off. I am starting to have another out brake, My Doctor has given me 5 days worth this time. Have you experianced any situations where a person felt like it might be causing out brakes?

Hi, thank you for submitting your question.

Genital herpes is related to the immune system, so whenever your immune system guard down, the herpes will exacerbate since it won't go away forever but in some cases an outbreak can be a rare one.

As long as you hydrate, rest, and physically strong there is a small chance of an outbreak.

I would recommend you to take some vitamins along the way which can boast your immune system, Echinachea would be great for it.

For genital herpes i would recommend you to limit your sexual partner, because remember that even the non-outbreak genital herpes can infect others.

For treating the genital herpes, the valacyclovir is the best medication around this time.

Thank you.
