Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 30 year old female who has been having recurrent PID for close to 2 years now despite being put on medication. The first scan showed an inflamed ovary and fallopian tube. Some antibiotics were administered and the symptoms disappeared but after a few months, I would experience right lower abdominal pains. A recent scan done in March 2018 indicated that I had mild fluid in the POD and adnexal area. What does this mean and is this an indication of infertility?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Don't worry mild fluid in POD and adnexal area won't cause infertility. It will go if you take proper Complete course of antibiotics. I suggest your partner should also be treated with antibiotics if you are having recurrent pelvic inflammatory disease. Get done your PAP smear test to know the causative organism. As per the PID treatment guidelines, PID is treated with empirical antibiotics therapy. Consult a OBGY doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
