How Can Recurrent Styes In The Eyes Be Treated?

Hi, I get styes often because of genes from my father s side. These frequent styes have caused my upper eyelid to stretch and become bigger to the point where it looks like it s droopy, but really it s the excess skin caused my the styes. How should I go about correcting this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Medical therapy for sty includes:
1. eyelid hygiene (lid scrubs)
2. warm compresses of the lesions for 10 minutes 4 times per day and
3. topical antibiotic ointment application in the inferior fornix.

Since it is recurrent, you may need to get the pus culture and sensitivity test to be done, to choose an appropriate antibiotic. Also, kindly get you fasting glucose and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels checked, as high blood glucose can precipitate recurring of sty.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
