How Can Red, Scaly And Dry Patches All Over The Body Be Treated?
My 15 year old son was helping his Dad set up our live Christmas tree on Monday evening where he came in contact with the branches while holding the tree. We noticed some red welts/pimples on his arms, but now they are all over the trunk of his body. He also has some bigger red, scaly dry looking patches maybe a 1/4 of an inch or less in circumference. They don t see to be bothering him or itching. I gave him a dose of benedryl last night but they were still there this morning. He has no known allergies, although he s never been to an allergist. As his Mother I get red welts/pimples when I m near certain trees but never like this.
As per your case history, your son is probably having Pityriasis Rosea.
My treatment advice is: 1. Avoid eating cold and sweet foods for 7 to 10 days. 2. Apply a soothing lotion like calamine lotion on affected region twice daily. 3. Take an antihistamine medicine like Levocetirizine twice daily for 7 to 10 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, topical steroid given only after consulting a dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
