OBGYN, Gynecologic Oncology 's  Response
Hello,

Yes, Candida infection can cause inflammation of the vagina and damage it. Good thing is that it will be relieved as new cells grow and replace the affected area. The soreness can be relieved by using a lubricant jelly or cream. In my patients, I advise moistening the Canesten pessary with water prior to inserting the pessary. It reduces the irritation to vaginal epithelium.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sabina Hussain
