How Can Restless Leg Syndrome Along With Insomnia Be Treated?
There are SSRI s and NDRI s. What is Geodon? I weaned off it and haven t slept since the end of October. My dormant RLS has kicked in again. I am currently taking 225mg Effexor. My dr. has prescribed Temazepam, Trazadone, Hydroxyzine (which is what began the RLS again), and Chlonazepam for sleep. Nothing has worked so far. I m thinking I need a NDRI instead of a SSRI to deal with both depression and RLS.
Dear GEODON is an antipsychotic drug is indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia, as monotherapy for the acute treatment of bipolar manic or mixed episodes, and as an adjunct to lithium or valproate for the maintenance treatment of bipolar disorder.
If you improved symptoms with geodon means there is psychotic component which is suppressed by antipsychotic. anti psychotics act as dopamine antagonist. But NDRI act as dopamine agonist action by decresed reuptake inhibition. so probably may aggravate the problem.
Many causes for restlessness leg syndrome like Iron deficiency anemia, excessive caffeine consumption, anxiety and hyperurisemia etc..
Please consult your neurophychiatrist he will examine and treat you accordingly.please don't self medicate.
Take care
