How Can Rheumatoid Arthritis Be Treated?

Hi, I have rheumatoid arthritis from past 3 years, developed 3 months post delivery. I am taking HCQ daily twice and methotrexate 12.5 mg once a week, but still it s not controlled and in two years my Rf has increased from 75 to 199 and anti ccp from 26 to 57. Also anti-SSA is positive. But other form of autoimmune like Lupus shows negative results, as I have been diagnosed thoroughly. why my RA is not controlled, often I heard that this can t be treated, is it true? What can I do to help myself, I have become crippled, all my finger and wrist joints started showing deformation. Please help. Is there anything else which can help me?

Hi,

In my opinion, you must get investigated for systemic lupus erythematosus also. drugs you are on are Hydrchloroquin and methotrexate combination and that should be OK. However your treating physician may prescribe you anti-TNF-alfa and other biologic DMARDS.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
