How Can Ringworm Infection On The Inner Thighs Be Treated?

My daughter 13yo, has ringworm rash on her inner thighs. On tues she was prescribed ketoconazole, twice a day. Didn t see improvement. Yesterday evening she developed fever, going up to 102. Also stuffy nose. A virus separate from ringworm or fever from infection from ringworm?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is unlikely that your daughter's ringworm infestation is causing a runny nose and fever. It is probably an unrelated viral infection.

Just use paracetamol for the fever. With respect to the ringworm infestation, you could use a clotrimazole cream with menthol, besides the ketoconazole.

The menthol preperations of clotrimazole are better as they provide some relief from the itching. Make sure the affected area is clean and dry at all times.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan
