How Can Runny Nose And Cough In An Infant Be Treated?

Hi,my son is 9 months old ,is having running nose,little cough,pulling his ears and breathing from mouth,his ped gave asthalin and phenergan syrups and told to continue till the symptoms occur. Am giving him from past one week but still t same is continuing .please suggest

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I would advise you to consult the pediatrician once again. It is quite possible that it has gone into secondary bacterial infection and may require a course of antibiotics. If he is breathing from the mouth, probably might have stuffy or blocked nose. You could try using Nasoclear saline nasal drops. Also, when he is sleeping, keep his head end elevated. Might help him sleep better by facilitating nasal secretions drainage.
