How Can Runny Nose Be Treated?

I have just had a colonoscopy. My nose has been running since I left the surgical center. My doctor removed one very small polyp. I cannot take any aspirin, ibuprofen (including Advil, Motrin or Nuprin), Naproxen (including Aleve), or any other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for 3 days after your biopsy. I need to stop my nose from this continuous running. Can I take Mucinex Sinus-Max? It has Acetaminophen, Guaifenesin and Phenylephrine.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have runny nose which is due to upper respiratory infection due to poor immunity of your body , upper respiratory track infection or sinusitis You should avoid use of spicy, sharp oily and fried food substances. You should take combination of antobiotic Levofloxacin along with anti histamine such as Levocetrizine. Drink warm water with one spoon of honey in it. You should do warm saline rinses 3-4 times a day. You should avoid cold carbonated beverages. You should visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get chest x-ray done along with pulmonary function tests done so as to detect level of infection and treatment can be started accordingly. Apply mist humidifiers in room. You should take throat soothing agents.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
