How Can Scalp Infection Be Treated?

My mom is having a very bad problem. We thought it might have been head lice at first but it s just seems so much worse. These things on her head she can t seem to get rid of, they are red in color, make her itch and they are biting her scalp and skin on her neck and shoulders. They leave sores on her as well. She has treated her head multiple times with otc lice treatment with no result. Any idea? She is really suffering from this.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It would be better if you send me a photo of the lesions to see them. I suppose it may be scabies. You can take permethrin cream to apply over them.

Also, you should clean all the clothes and sheets and pillows well at over 50°C temperature.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
