How Can Sciatic Pain In The Left Leg Be Treated?

Iam 70 years old and taking gabapentin 300mg at night, taking it for sciatic pain on left leg with radiation up to my toes, it has helped me but I am worried about side effects that would hurt me in another way, is it safe to take in for a long period of time? YYYY@YYYY

Hi. I would advise you to get a checkup to confirm where your sciatic nerve is impinged, and treat the cause. It might help to have physio to relieve the tension in the nerve, but an orthopaedic surgeon can do tests to confirm level of pathology. Medication is only treating the symptoms but not the problem, and yes there are side- effects to be considered.
Hope this answers your question.
