Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 93 year old mother takes warfarin (INR well controlled) and has severe sciatica that is not responding to physical therapy. The PT suggested trailing a Medrol Pak (several days). My mother also takes lasix 20 Mg, synthroid 75 mcg, Vytorin 10-40, and metoprolol succinctness 100 Mg, and losartn 25 Mg. Do you think it is safe to take the medrol pak?
I appreciate your concern for your mother. Medrol Pak in combination with Warfarin will decrease clotting and increase bleeding risk so dosage of Warfarin will have to be adjusted and INR will have to be watched.
Medrol Pak will not interact with any of the drugs (Lasix, Synthroid, Vytorin and Metoprolol Succinate) that you mentioned.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks.
Regards,
Dr. Prabhash Verma
