Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
We recently went to a variety clinic they put my you husband with a therapist she decided to discontinue the khlonopin and run blood test and told him to stop all caffeine it took 2 yes to increase venflafine and get anti anxiety med school he s not doing well I see him declining again now what
Your doctor has done absolutely good and right thing. Both Caffeine and Clonazepam are addictive and cause stress. Clonazepam[Klonopin] has the potential for development of tolerance, that is every month the dose will have to increased. But the question is for how long? There is no limit until he blows his brain and is psychologically cripples. Being in a Medical School is an extremely stressful phase of one's life. I would prefer him drug free during this period of his life. Tell him to do some breathing exercises and meditation. IT SHOULD NOT BE THAT YOU SHOULD REJECT THESE TECHNIQUES AT THE OUTSET THINKING IT'S ALL FLUKE. THEY REALLY WORK WONDERS IF DONE WITH DEDICATION. Secondly if at all he needs medication , give him Escitalopram 10 mg at bedtime. Since it's a strictly prescription drug, trust your Psychiatrist and discuss this suggestion with him to get a prescription. Drugs never was or is a solution for themaladies of mind. OK? Godspeed.
