How Can Severe Anxiety Be Treated?

hi.i am going on a flight this week for the first tie in 16yrs. flying was never a problem before. however lately i have anxiety of feeling being trapped. i saw a dr this last week and she gave me 4 ativans of .5mg. she said use 2 to get to my flight destintion and 2 for coming back. i have never ever taken anything like this. I feel like i should try to see how i will rect to the ativan before i take it during the flight. should i try to get in to a dr to get at least one ativan for me to try before the flight. the dr i saw said dont worry its strong enough.

Hello,

You are absolutely correct in wanting to try Ativan before the flight as it can have paradoxical effects in few people, especially elderly where instead of decreasing anxiety it does the opposite.

So you can definitely ask the doctor that you want to see how you react to Ativan before you take it for your flight phobia.

You could also try something like Benedryl instead of Ativan which will make you feel calm and sedated during your flight.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
