How Can Severe Anxiety Be Treated?

hello, I have been on zoloft since october 2016,was on paxil before that started on zoloft 50mg still feeling anxious doctor increased dosage to 100 in february this year, I have noticed stomach issues and some weight loss dont feel myself on this drug calling my doctor tomorrow what would you consider as a alternative for this medication? I suffer with anxiety and depression and have been through a lot the past six months. Appetite not grat on this drug either.

Hello,

You are having anxiety issue for which you have been prescribed Sertraline drug. This drug can lead to stomach upset and weight change as side effects. If needed for stomach pain by gastritis Rabeprazole can be prescribed additionally. Another alternative drug is Fluoxetine which is from the same SSRI group.

These drugs should be taken continuously for 6 to 8 months for improvement. Behavioral counseling is also beneficial. If needed benzodiazepine course can be prescribed for 2 months. Consult psychiatrist for behavioral counseling and get prescription.
