How Can Severe Arthritis On The Back And Neck Be Treated?
I need to find a pain reliever that is not a NSAID and other than Tylenol. I have a stomach ulcer and have just been told not to take Advil or other NSAID pain medications. I have arthritis and lots of degeneration in my back and neck so I do need something. Unfortunately, Tylenol doesn t relieve pain for me. It makes me kind of sleepy but that s all it does. Can you recommend something?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
If you have ulcer you should Not take any NSAIDS. For any pain you can take acetaminophen. You should be at rest & avoid any activity that triggers pain. Applying ice or heat relieves pain, massage soothes the sprain & inflammation in the neck muscles & ligaments. Be careful about your posture. If pain continues visit ER or a neurologist & get evaluated to screen out any developing neurological problem. Take care.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K.
