How Can Severe Cough, Sore Throat And Cold Be Treated?

I have had a cough and sore throat for years of my life also I have a cold now. My cough this time has been so severe that I threw up three times today. No other symptoms at least not yet. msey father died of lung cancer and my mother had a bad cough in her old age which never amounted to anything.

I can understand you concern with a family history of lung cancer but most cases of persistent cough are not related to lung cancer.

The most common reason for chronic cough is post nasal drip. The other common reasons are GERD (gastroesophageal reflux) , asthma and non asthma eosinophilic bronchitis.

Post nasal drip can also cause a sorethroat as well.
The use anti histamine decongestant combination consistently for a few weeks would help.

You may want to consider seeing a pulmonologist re the cough so that an exact diagnosis can be made
