How Can Severe Cough With Thick Mucus In The Throat Be Treated?
Hi. I am Valarie. I have several small issues. First I have a heavy cough. Usually in the morning but occasionally through the day or night. Very random. Cough is so hard that I feel like I am going to vomit. I will cough and gag occasionally will bring up stuff. Thick but clear. Also have extremely sensitive scent. Minor odors like dish water will trigger cough and gag. I am 49 with stroke history in 2004 also hypothroidism.

@ Seems more of allergic bronchitis , cause evaluation is vital for management through x-ray chest , pulmonary function test with or without diagnostic bronchoscopy . @ Management include - avoidance of susceptible particle (say dust/others) - use of face masks - antibiotics in acute flare up - bronchodilators - expectorant - general nursing care ( oxygen in some cases )
