Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter is 11. She went to the school nurse this morning with an ear ache. The nurse poked a thing into her ear which my daughter said it made it feel worse. She is screaming in pain and she said her ear keeps popping. What can I do? I`m afraid the nurse might have punctured her ear drum.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for asking. I understand your concern. Ear pain can be due to inflammation or infection of any part of ear...it can also be following common cold due to blocked eustachian tube. Yes but the child needs check up by ENT specialist to exclude possibility of ear drum injury. To ease the pain.. you can give tab. Ibuprofen 100 mg. after eating. Please avoid putting oil /anything else in ear...or try to clean it with a cotton stick at home. Thanks.
