How Can Severe Headache After An Injury Be Treated?
I fell backwards off my step stool landing on my back and I hit my head hard. I immediately experienced a painful headache but there is no obvious swelling, no lump on the back of my head. I have applied an ice pack to my head and taken two extra strength Tylenol. Do I need to avoid sleeping or see a doctor before morning?

No, usually it subsides with Tylenol drug, no need to worry at all.
If you have any other associated problems, then only see a doctor or else just slight trauma will not necessitate you to go to a doctor.
You can repeat Tylenol drug after one day.
