Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
If your doctor stamped your headache as a Migraine, then starts following advice:
1. Take caffeine and
paracetamol medicines while having an acute attack of a Migraine.
2. If it does not resolve, then you can also try other NSAIDs like Ibuprofen, diclofenac etcetera.
3. If all these are not working, then you have to take triptans (
sumatriptan or
rizatriptan drugs).
For further prevention of attacks:
1. Start taking tablet
propranolol daily.
2. If not decreasing the frequency in 1-week, then increase the dose.
3. If it still not decreasing the frequency, then adds another prophylactic drug like
Flunarizine, Valproate, Nifedipine as mentioned earlier in lower dose and increases it accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Hiren Hirpara
