How Can Severe Inner Ear Itching Be Treated?

My ears have been itching (internally) for months and it s getting worse! It wakes me up at night and I m constantly stratching them with an ear aid I got at Walgreens for dry skin. I do not produce ear wax at all. What can I do to help the situation? It is driving me crazy!!!!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of itching inner ear which seems to be due to infection and inflammation.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to avoid touching or pricking ear with any sharp object. Maintain cleanliness of ear. You should consult ENT specialist without delay otherwise it can spread to middle and inner ear and complicate the condition. Doctor may order audiometry testing and can do examination with otoscope to rule out condition like pulsatile tinnitus. You can start with antibiotics along with anti inflammatory medications . For now take steam twice a day and do warm saline gargles .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
