How Can Severe Pain Due To Knock Knees Be Treated?

Hi, my name is Marcia and Im a 31 year old female with knock knees. My mom has it and passed to all her 3 children. My brother s was more severe and at times he could not walk, and my mother was able to correct them with therapy as a child. As for my case, it only started to get noticeable when i was 16. My mother is almost 60 yrs old and has been experiencing pain on her knees. I don t wish to go through the same thing. Is it still possible for me to correct it without surgery? Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

There are non-surgical options but they may not be as effective as surgery.

Some of the non-surgical options include (1) physical therapy
(2) use of special inserts in shoes
(3) weight loss, excess weight can add extra pressure to the knees and worsen the issue

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
