How Can Severe Pain In The Ankles Be Treated?

My husband just had surgery for a nasty compound fracture of the ankle this morning. They have been giving him pain meds. Dilantin and narco but he is not getting much relief. He is loopy though. This is a man with a high threshold for pain. Kidney stones. Ruptured ulcer etc. What are your thoughts?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As far as my clinical experience is concerned, in this intense pain after surgery, you should discuss the need of additional molecule for pain relief with your consultant ortho surgeon.

In our clinic, we recommend Tramadol Hydrochloride with best results.

Do give me further chance to assist in future.

Thank you.
