How Can Severe Pain In The Fibula After An Ankle Injury?

Hi, I stepped into my shoe wrong and rolled my ankle, hearing a loud strange pop. My fibula is very tender but no swelling. I can t press my foot forward, like on the gas pedal without experiencing pain. I don t know if I strained a ligament or broke my fibula... I have to walk very carefully or it causes severe pain in the localized area. Please advise. Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I suggest that you get an x-ray of the ankle done. In the meantime, do alternate hot and cold compress of the ankle. Tie a crepe bandage around the ankle. You can take an anti-inflammatory tab for the pain. Consult your doctor with the x-ray report.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mukesh Sood
