How Can Severe Pain In The Knees Be Treated?

Hi, I m looking for something to relieve the pain in my knee. I had a knee replacement two yrs ago and I have alot of pain from scar tissue. Walking and just bending my knee is very uncomfortable. My Dr doesn t want to go in and remove for fear of an infection and he says it will only come back. What do you suggest. Thank you.

Hello,

We need to first understand that what has happened to your knees after replacement. MRI of the knee would give us the complete picture.

If there is anything pathological scar tissue found which is causing you pain significantly, then we need to weigh the pros and cons and take to operating room and remove it. But it all depends on your MRI results.

If there is no choice of operation, then we need to give you symptomatic pain relief treatment with any painkillers like Paracetamol, Ibuprofen, Diclofenac, Tramadol, Pethidine, etcetera for few days to subside the pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
