How Can Severe Pain In The Leg After An Injury Be Treated?

18 days ago I was in my attic during a power outage and didn t see where I was stepping. I stepped of the walking boards and my leg went right through the ceiling. As I fell and tried to catch myself, my upper and outer leg (above knee and exterior side) slammed into a wooden beam resulting in incredible pain. The bruising took a couple days to show up and it was severe. I also developed a HUGE lump (grapefruit size) in the area of the bruising, but not EXACTLY where the bruises are. The pain has been excruciating. Weeks later the bruising is subsiding but not the lump, which is still very painful and harder in some places - squishy in others. I m just wondering if this is a deeper issue like a hematoma that might need draining? besides the residual bruising and the swelling, there is no visible center to the lump.

Hello,

Get an x-ray done to rule out any fractures and if it still persisting, you can always take any painkillers like Paracetamol, Ibuprofen and reduce pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Archana
