Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had bad back pain for several years...I have had 2 rounds of shots in my back since Nov. of 2016...now I m experiencing terrible pain that feels muscular all the way down both legs into both feet. I m a security officer at a casino and am on my feet 8 hrs a day and walk continuously. The pain is such that I can hardly get thru the night and then I m locked up and in pain until I do it all over again. My body should be in great shape with miles and miles I walk every week. I know my body and this is something I ve never experienced. It s destroying my golf game also....am very concerned....Thank You... Greg
1. As your job demands standing for prolonged hours, thus initially check with a general physician or surgeon to exclude varicose veins as the cause of severe pain.
2. An Orthopedic surgeon can further exclude possibilities like hip osteoarthritis, AVN [avascular necrosis], DVT [deep vein thrombosis], PVD [peripheral vascular disorder] or simply because of cramps in calf [due to diabetes, calcium/salt deficiency].
PS. The symptoms have to be carefully assessed by your doctor to ensure that whether it requires immediate medical attention or long-term therapy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
