Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I suffer from severe chronic pain. In addition to pain medications, my pain management physician prescribed zanaflex. He then D/C d zanaflex and prescribed soma. Is one considered stronger than the other or less side effects, etc? I am just curious as to why he changed the medication. I will ask him when I see him July 17th, but just wondered if you would shed some light on muscle relaxers. Thank you for your time. email: YYYY@YYYY
Good day and thank you for posting this question. Both Soma and Zanaflex are muscle relaxants and both are highly effective. Your doctor might have changed to Soma probably you complained of a side effect to Zanaflex. None is stronger than the other, and they both have the same side effect but Zanaflex tends to cause more side effects than Soma. I hope it helps. Thank you.
