How Can Severe Pain In The Neck Be Treated?

an x-ray shows multiple areas of loss of disc height and other arthritic changes in the neck. My doctor suspects I have a pinched nerve but will not be in his office till Tuesday. Is there an otc pain reliever you can recommend? THe pain is very severe.

Hello dear.
You can use tylonol or motrin(ibuprofen) tablet 400 mg (thrice daily) but not on empty stomach.
You can also use orphenadrine+para etamol combination containing tablets.
You should consult a neurosurgeon as early as possible.
You should also consult a physiotherapist to tell you some good exercises to relieve muscle spasm and the pain.

I really appreciate your concern, as long as the pain is concern if this is the spondylosis condition of cervical spine then you can try any NSAID (Non steroid anti-inflammatory drugs ) but important is the correct the underlying cause of pain instead of taking analgesic it is not for curing the disease, the best NSAID is Diclofenac sodium hope this information helps.
