Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have two small bulging discs in my neck. I had the pain about 90% better then I had prostate surgery and they had my head tilted down and when I woke up for surgery I have been in terrible pain in my neck and shoulder bald area and pain shooting down my arm with numbness. It has been 3 weeks now and I have tried massage, chiropractic adjustments and and decompression. The pain is still very bad and now I have numbness in my left arm and blurry vision. I have an orthopedic appointment on Jan. 2nd but I am very concerned. Should I go to an emergency room?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Yes, you should definitely visit emergency room. Your current symptoms like numbness, blurring of vision, unbearable pain, etc., are suggestive of worsening of nerve root compression because of bulging disc. So you need to repeat MRI of cervical spine. If bulging of disc and nerve compression are worse than previous MRI then you will need surgical correction. So better to visit emergency room and get MRI done.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar
