How Can Severe Pain In The Neck Be Treated?

I was in a car accident 1 year ago and it reinjured the cervical fusion I had done 8 years ago. I have had 2 nerve block injections to try and help with pain relief, but they did not help. I am in severe pain at the C7 and C 8 area in my neck and it almost feels like there is an infection in my spine. Is that possible?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As you had a history of cervical fusion eight years ago and a car accident one year ago, so I think the pain in the neck because of nerve compression, it may not be an infection. Do you have a fever? Use a cervical belt after consultation. Don't do much head and neck movement. You can take tablet naproxen. Do physiotherapy as advised. Don't do heavy exercises. I will suggest you follow up with a detailed history or consult with Orthopedician for detailed examination and pain management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regard,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale
